Shabir Sebastian Ahluwalia was born on August 10, 1979, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His father, an army officer of Sikh descent, and his mother, a Catholic air hostess, raised him in a multicultural household. He has two siblings: an elder brother, Sameer Ahluwalia, an actor, and an elder sister, Shefali Ahluwalia.
Shabir showed an early interest in sports, aspiring to become a sportsman or computer programmer. He attended St. Xavier’s High School in Vile Parle, Mumbai. After completing school, he pursued higher education at the University of Maryland, College Park, USA, earning a graduate degree.

Shabir debuted in 1999 with the Zee TV serial Hip Hip Hurray, playing Purab. The youth-oriented show gained him initial recognition. In 2002, he appeared in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, portraying Aniket Mehta, which brought him wider fame.
His breakthrough came with Kahiin To Hoga (2003–2007), where he played the charismatic Rishi Garewaal, a charming casanova who evolves into a devoted lover. His nuanced performance, blending charisma and vulnerability, resonated with audiences. The show’s popularity established him as a household name. Personal Life
Shabir married actress Kanchi Kaul on November 27, 2011, after a long courtship. They met on the set of Ek Nanad Ki Khushiyon Ki Chaabi… Meri Bhabhi. The couple has two sons: Azai, born in 2014, and Ivarr, born in 2016.
They reside in Mumbai, maintaining a private family life. Shabir enjoys cricket and fitness, often sharing gym photos on social media. Kanchi, also an actress, supports his career while pursuing her own projects.
