Early Life and Career
Kubbra Sait was born on July 27, 1983, in Bengaluru, Karnataka, into a Memon Muslim family. Her father, Zakariah Sait, originates from Ooty, and her mother, Yasmin Sait, is from Mysore. Yasmin, a homemaker, raised Kubbra as a single parent and manages her career. Her younger brother, Danish Sait, is a radio jockey and television host. Her uncle, Tanveer Sait, is a Karnataka politician, and her grandfather, Azeez Sait, was a state minister.
Growing up in Bengaluru, Kubbra faced bullying over her name, which resembled “Kubda” (humped), impacting her confidence. Her mother enrolled her in Buoyancee Learning Centre, boosting her public speaking skills. Kubbra attended New Horizon Public School and New Horizon English High School in Bengaluru. She pursued a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Business Management in Finance/Marketing at Jyoti Nivas College and the National Institute of Management & Information Sciences, Bengaluru. After graduating in 2005, she moved to Dubai, working as an accounts manager for Microsoft.
Kubbra began hosting shows at age 12 at the Padmashri Institute of Physiotherapy. In Dubai, she continued emceeing events. In 2007, she left her Microsoft job to pursue entertainment in India. She won the Miss Personality title at the Miss India Worldwide Beauty Pageant in 2009, marking her entry into the glamour world.

Her acting debut came with a small role in Ready (2011), directed by Anees Bazmee, alongside Salman Khan and Asin. She then acted in Ashwini Chaudhary’s Jodi Breakers (2012) starring R. Madhavan, Bipasha Basu, and Milind Soman and Radhika Rao’s I Love New Year (2013) with Sunny Deol and Kangana Ranaut.
She did a small cameo as a commentator in Ali Abbas Zafar’s sports drama Sultan (2016), starring Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma. Kubbra also had a small role in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy (2019). Kubbra made her OTT debut with Amazon Prime’s Going Viral Pvt. Ltd. (2017), followed by AltBalaji’s Fourplay (2018). Her breakthrough arrived with the Netflix crime drama Sacred Games (2018), directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap. In the series, Kubbra played Kukoo, a transgender woman and love interest of Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). Her bold performance in the Anurag Kashyap-directed series earned critical acclaim and global recognition.
She then acted in TVF Tripling (2019), RejctX (2019), The Verdict – State vs Nanavati (2019), Illegal (2020), Waqalat From Home (2020), Murder in Agonda (2021), and Shehar Lakhot (2023). In 2021, Kubbra played Phara Keaen, a rebel leader, in Apple TV+’s sci-fi series Foundation.
She then acted in Raj & DK’s Farzi, starring Shahid Kapoor, and Vijay Sethupathi. As Sana Shaikh in this Disney+ Hotstar legal drama The Trial (2023), Kubbra portrayed a determined lawyer alongside Kajol.
