Amit Sial

Amit Sial is a versatile actor who is known for his impactful performances in both Hindi films and especially on OTT in shows like Inside Edge, Mirzapur, Jamtara, Sabka Number Ayega, Maharani, Kathmandu Connection, and many more.

Early Life and Career

Amit Sial was born on July 1, 1975, in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. His father worked as a businessman, while his mother served as a librarian.

He attended Sheiling House School in Kanpur, where he first discovered his love for acting. His academic journey took him to Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, New Delhi, where he completed his B.Com. (Hons). He then went on to pursue a postgraduate diploma in international business from Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. After completing his education, he started working as a franchise development director in a playschool group in Delhi, but left the job in 2003 to pursue his dream of acting.

It was said that Amit Sial decided to become an actor at the age of eight. He is active in his school plays and other extracurricular activities. While he was in college, he started taking theatre seriously and learned acting from the “Theatre Action Group (TAG) under the guidance of Barry John. His first professional play was “Blood Brothers (1995),” directed by Barry John.

Sial moved to Mumbai in 2004 with the resolve to make it big in Bollywood. His debut came in 2006 with Tanuja Chandra’s “Hope and a Little Sugar,” where he played the role of Ali Siddiqui. However, it was the Dibakar Banerjee’s 2010 release “Love Sex Aur Dhokha” that brought him into the limelight. In the film he plays a journalist, Prabhat who plans a sting operation on a leachourous music producer.

He went on to act in many critically acclaimed films like Phas Gaye Re Obama (2010), Coffin Maker (2013), Issaq (2013), Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi (2014), Titli (2015), Guddu Rangeela (2015), Charlie Kay Chakkar Mein (2015), Raid (2018), Sonchiriya (2019), Bombairiya (2019), Aafat-E-Ishq (2021), Veer Savarkar (2024), Kesari Chapter 2 (2025), and Raid 2 (2025).

Although Sial proved his mettle in films with his diverse performances, his true potential was discovered in web series, where he has been consistently delivering top-notch performances. In Karan Anshuman’s Inside Edge (2017), he played Devender Mishra, a cunning cricketer, earning praise for intensity. He Played IPS Maurya in Mirzapur (2018) to great acclaim. Some of his most loved shows include “Damaged,” “Hostages,” “Rangbaaz Phirse, “Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega, A Simple Murder,” “Maharani, “Kathmandu Connection,” “Commando,” and “Inspector Avinash.”

Not just an actor, Sial is also a writer and director. He co-wrote and co-produced “Charlie Kay Chakkar Mein” (2015), a film in which he also acted alongside his wife, Aanchal Sial.

Amit married Aanchal Sial a few years ago. They don’t have any children yet
