Shoemaker’s notable Broadway performances include “Ah, Wilderness!” and “The Skin of Our Teeth.” Her film career began in the silent era, and she seamlessly transitioned to talkies, earning recognition for her roles in movies like “Alice Adams” (1935), “My Favorite Wife” (1940) & Sunrise at Campobello (1960) .
