Happy Birthday Sara Ali Khan, one of the promising actors of Hindi films who is trying for a spot in the big league, is more famous for her down-to-earth demeanour and funny persona on social media.

Early Life and Career

Sara Ali Khan was born on August 12, 1995, in Mumbai, as the scion of the Pataudi family. Her father, Saif Ali Khan, is an actor from the Pataudi royal family. Her mother, Amrita Singh, is also an actress. Sara has a younger brother, Ibrahim Ali Khan, and two half-brothers, Taimur and Jehangir, from Saif’s second marriage to Kareena Kapoor. Sara’s paternal grandfather, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, was a legendary cricketer, and her grandmother, is iconic Sharmila Tagore.

Sara grew up in Mumbai. Her parents divorced in 2004 when she was nine. She lived with her mother, who gained custody. Sara struggled with weight issues as a teenager due to polycystic ovary syndrome. She followed a strict diet and workout regime to lose 40 kilograms. Sara attended Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai. She pursued higher education at Columbia University in New York. She graduated with a degree in history and political science in 2016.

Sara appeared in an advertisement at age four. She decided on acting after watching Aishwarya Rai perform in Chicago. Sara trained in acting and improved her Hindi diction. Her debut came in 2018 with Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath, opposite Sushant Singh Rajput.

The film is a poignant love story set against the backdrop of a Kedranath Cloud Burst of 2013. In the film Sara played Mandakini, a rich girl in love with a poor porter. Her debut performance showed emotional range and resilience. Critics also praised her chemistry with Sushant Singh Rajput. The film not only showcased her acting prowess but also earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.

The same year, she appeared in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Simmba‘ opposite Ranbir Singh. The action comedy went on to become a big commercial hit, further cementing her place in the industry.

Other Work

Yogeeta Bali’s personal life often overshadowed her cinematic contributions. She was first married to the iconic singer Kishore Kumar in 1976, but the marriage was short-lived, ending in divorce by 1978. Subsequently, she found love with actor Mithun Chakraborty, whom she married in 1979, ultimately bidding adieu to the silver screen to embrace family life. The couple has four children: Mahaakshay (Mimoh), Ushmey, Namashi, and a daughter, Dishani.

In 2023, she starred in the romantic comedy ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke‘, which was well-received by audiences. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the romantic comedy starred Sara as Somya Chawla Dubey. She played a middle-class woman scheming with her husband. Sara’s relatable portrayal and comic timing drove its success. Critics noted her growth in light-hearted roles.

Sara also acted in Gas Light (2023), Murder Mubarak (2024), Ae Watan Mere Watan (2024), Sky Force (2025) and Metro… In Dino (2025).

Off-screen, Sara is known for her vivacious personality, her love for travel, and her penchant for fitness. She has been vocal about her struggle with weight and polycystic ovary disease (PCOD), which she bravely overcame with determination and a rigorous fitness regime.
