Mahesh Anand, as a versatile actor, dancer, and martial artist. He is best remembered for his villainous and supporting roles in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam films. He was a black belt in karate, a top model, and a trained dancer before he started acting.
Early Life and Career
He made his debut in 1984 with the film “Karishmaa” and went on to act in more than 100 films until 2019. Before acting in Karishmaa, he performed for the opening sequence of “Sanam Teri Kasam (1982),” with his dance in silhouette. He worked with some of the biggest stars of Hindi cinema, like Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Govinda, Sunny Deol, and Anil Kapoor.

Mahesh Anand was known for his muscular physique and menacing looks. He often played the role of a henchman or a gangster who would challenge the hero. He also played some positive roles in films like “Sasti Dulhan Mahenga Dulha (1986),” where he played the lead role. He also acted in “Ek Aur Ek Gyarah (2003),” where he played a captain.
He also acted in regional films like “Lankeswarudu (1989)” in Telugu, “Veera (1994)” in Tamil and “Abhimanyu (1991)” in Malayalam.

However, Mahesh Anand’s life was not as glamorous as it seemed on screen. He faced many hardships and struggles in his personal and professional life.
In the early 2000s, Mahesh had a major accident during a film shoot while doing stunts. Those days, there were no cable wires for safety. The accident left him in the hospital for 6 months, and even after getting out of the hospital, he was on bed for almost 3 years.
During this time he lost out on his work and contacts, which led him to sink into severe depression and alcoholism. For almost 14 years he didn’t get any acting work, which resulted in financial problems.


He made a comeback in 2019 with the film Rangeela Raja, produced by Pahlaj Nihalani. He expressed his happiness on Facebook for getting a chance to act again after a long time.
Personal Life
Mahesh had five marriages and four divorces. He married Barkha Roy, who was the sister of Reena Roy, in the 1980s but they divorced after some time. He then married former Miss India Erika Maria D’Sousa. His other wives were Madhu Malhotra, actress Usha Bachani, and Laana. He had a son, Trishul Anand, with Erica, who now goes by the name of Anthony Vohra and lives in Canada, where Erica moved with her second husband.
Sadly, Mahesh Anand’s life came to an abrupt end on 9 February 2019, when he was found dead in his Versova flat in Mumbai. The post-mortem report suggested that he died of natural causes, but the exact cause of death is still unknown. His body was found in a decomposed state with a TV on, a food plate, and a bottle of liquor near him. His maid informed the police after getting no response from him for two days. His wife, Laana, came from Belarus to claim his body.
Mahesh Anand’s death shocked his fans and the film industry. Many people paid tribute to him on social media and remembered him. Mahesh Anand was a talented actor who had a lot of potential but could not achieve the success he deserved.
