Honey Irani, born on January 17, 1955, in Bombay(Mumbai) is a multifaceted personality in the Indian film industry, known for her contributions as a screenwriter and actress. Starting her career as a child artist, Honey transitioned into writing and goes on to be highly successful scriptwriter.

Honey is the youngest of five siblings, the others being Menaka, Bunny, Sarosh, and Daisy Irani, also a famous child-star like herself.
As a child actor, she showcased her talent in films like “Chirag Kahan Roshni Kahan” (1959), Didi (1959) Qaidi No. 911 (1959), Masoom (1960), Amar Rahe Yeh Pyar (1961) and as a young adult in Maharaja (1970), Kati Patang (1970), Amar Prem (1971) Seeta Aur Geeta (1972) as Sheila.
However, it was her foray into screenwriting that truly distinguished her. Honey Irani penned scripts for successful films such as “Lamhe” (1991), “Aaina” (1993), and “Darr” (1993), Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya (1997), Kya Kehna (2000), Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (2000), Armaan (2003) which she aslo directs, Koi… Mil Gaya (2003), Krrish (2006) & Krrish3 (2013) displaying a knack for storytelling and character development.
Her collaborations with iconic filmmakers like Yash Chopra and Rakesh Roshan cemented her reputation as a proficient screenwriter. Honey’s ability to craft narratives with emotional depth resonated with audiences, and resulted in 3 Filmfare Awards for Story/Screenplay for Lamhe, Kya Kehna & Kaho na…Pyar Hai.
Honey married famous writer lyricist Javed Akhtar in 1972, together they had two kids, Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar, both of whom are celebrated filmmakers. The couple separated in 1978 and divorced in 1985. Famous sibilings Farah Khan and Sajid Khan are children of Honey’s sister Menka Irani.
