With a career spanning over five decades, he is an iconic Indian actor primarily renowned for his work in Tamil cinema. His career expanded beyond South Indian industries, leading to a Bollywood debut in “Andhaa Kaanoon” (1983) and a prominent presence in successful films like “ChaalBaaz” (1989) and “Hum” (1991).

The 1990s brought Rajinikanth’s collaboration with director Suresh Krissna, resulting in blockbuster hits like “Baashha” (1995), a milestone in his career. The late 1990s and early 2000s witnessed a series of successes with films like “Chandramukhi” (2005), “Sivaji” (2007), and the science fiction epics “Enthiran” (2010) and its sequel “2.0” (2018).

In 2023, Rajinikanth’s blockbuster “Jailer” made a remarkable impact, surpassing 600 crores at the box office and solidifying his position as the only actor with two 500 crores movies in the Tamil film industry. “Jailer” also reinstated him as the highest-paid actor in India, earning a staggering 210 crores for a single film.

Rajinikanth’s illustrious career has been adorned with numerous awards, including seven Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, a Nandi Award, and a Filmfare Award. His influence extends beyond cinema, as evidenced by his recognition as one of the most influential individuals in South Asia by Asiaweek and Forbes India naming him the most influential Indian in 2010.
