Aditya Srivastav, a respected figure in Indian cinema and television, is widely recognized for his role as Senior Inspector Abhijeet in the long-running series “C.I.D.” In his career spanning films, TV, and theater, he created a special place for himself with his intense acting. Early Life and Career
Aditya Shrivastav was born on July 21, 1968, in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. He grew up in a middle-class family. His father, D.N. Shrivastav, worked as a government officer. His brother, Ashutosh Shrivastav work as an assistant director.
Aditya completed his bachelor’s degree in arts at Allahabad University. He participated in theater plays at Sangeet Samiti, Civil Lines, during college. In 1989, he moved to Delhi to train at the Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts.

Aditya continued to do theater in Delhi for the next many years. In 1991 he got the chance to act in the serial “Kahani Ek Kanya Ki” with Tigmanshu Dhulia and Sanjay Mishra. He also acted with Irrfan Khan in “Shesh Prashna (1993).” In this period he also acted in serials like “Byomkesh Bakshi,” “Rishtey,” and “Aahat.”
He got his first break in 1994, in Shekhar Kapur’s “Bandit Queen.” In this biopic of politician and former bandit Phoolan Devi, he portrayed her abusive husband, Putti Lal. The break led to his relocation to Mumbai in 1995, where he started doing voiceovers for promos and ads. In 1996 he acted in Govind Nihlani‘s “Sanshodhan,” with Manoj Bajpayee and Ashutosh Rana. He again worked with Nihlani in “Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa (1998).”
Aditya then worked in Ram Gopal Verma’s Satya (1998), Mani Ratnam’s Dil Se.. (1998), Hansal Mehta’s Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar!! (2000), Saurabh Shukla’s Mudda – The Issue (2003), Manish Jha’s Matrubhoomi (2003), Sriram Raghwan’s Ek Hasina Thi (2004), Farhan Akhtar‘s Lakshya (2004), and many more.
The Seasoned Actor
Aditya’s big break was supposed to be Anurag Kashyap’s “Paanch,” with Kay Kay Menon, Vijay Maurya, Joy Fernandes, and Tejaswini Kolhapure. But the ill-fated film was not approved by the censor board and never saw a theatrical release. He also portrayed an important part in Anurag’s “Black Friday,” which was released in 2004 after many years’s delay.
Some of his other notable films include Gulaal (2009), Kaalo (2010), Julie 2 (2017), Super 30 (2019), Raat Akeli Hai (2020), Haseen Dillruba (2021), Bheed (2023) and Bhakshak (2024).
Aditya’s real fame came with his role as Inspector Abhijeet in the long-running police procedural “C.I.D.” For the series he collaborated with Shivaji Satam and Dayanand Shetty, creating an iconic trio. He also acted in series like Kanyadanam (2022), Human (2022), IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack (2024), Safarkhana with Aditya & Daya (2024),


Personal Life
Aditya Srivastav married Manasi Srivastav, a psychologist, in 2003. They have two daughters, Arushi and Adwika Srivastav.
