Zayed Khan

Known for his exceptional looks and charm, Zayed Khan is an actor and producer. He is best remembered for his roles in films like Main Hoon Na, Shabd, Dus, Yuvraaj, and Blue.

Early Life and Career

Born on July 5, 1980, in Mumbai, Zayed Khan hails from a prominent film family. His father, Sanjay Khan, is a former actor and director, while his mother, Zarine Khan, was a celebrity interior designer. Zayed’s uncles were the legendary Feroz Khan and former actor-director Akbar Khan. 

Zayed grew up as the youngest of four children, with sisters Simone, Sussanne, and Farah Khan Ali. His diverse heritage includes Afghan and Iranian roots from his father and Parsi lineage from his mother. He attended Welham Boys’ School in Dehradun and Kodaikanal International School, where he met his future wife, Malaika Parekh. Later, he studied business management at Montgomery College, Maryland, USA. He also studied filmmaking at the London Film Academy, London.

Zayed entered the entertainment industry with his acting debut in Sangeeth Sivan’s Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne (2003), opposite Esha Deol. With his first film itself, he garnered a fan following for his looks. 

His breakthrough came with Farah Khan’s Main Hoon Na (2004), with Shahrukh Khan, Sushmita Sen and Amrita Arora. In the film, he played Lucky, the rebellious brother of Shah Rukh Khan’s character. This role earned him a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

He followed with notable performances in Anubhav Sinha‘s Dus (2005) as a cop and Shabd (2005) as a young professor alongside Aishwarya Rai. He was also praised for playing a brat playboy in Subhash Ghai‘s Yuvvraaj (2008).

Other Work

His film career included over 20 movies, with only Main Hoon Na and Dus achieving significant box-office success, while others like Rocky: The Rebel (2006) and Blue (2009) saw mixed results. Some of his other notable films include Vaada (2005), Shaadi No. 1 (2005), Fight Club – Members Only (2006), Cash (2007), Mission Istaanbul (2008), Anjaana Anjaani (2010), and Tezz (2012). In 2015, he starred in the comedy Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene.

Zayed  ventured into production with Born Free Entertainment, co-founded with Dia Mirza and Sahil Sanga in 2011. The production house released Love Breakups Zindagi (2011), which received a lukewarm response. In 2017, he debuted on television with Haasil, playing Ranvir Raichand.

Personal Life

Zayed business acumen later boosted his net worth to an estimated ₹1500 crore through smart investments, surpassing many contemporaries.

Zayed married Malaika Parekh on November 20, 2005, after meeting her in school in 1995. They have two sons Zidaan (born 2008) and Aariz (born 2011).
