Raageshwari

Raageshwari is a renowned singer, actress, television personality, and mindfulness speaker. She is known for her films like Aankhen, Zid, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, and pop albums like Duniya, Pyaar Ka Rang, Sach Ka Saath, and Y2K-saal do hazaar.

Early Life and Careert

Raageshwari Loomba, popularly known as Raageshwari, was born on July 25, 1977, in Mumbai. Her father, Trilok Singh Loomba, is a famous musician, while her mother, Veerra Loomba, was a homemaker. Raageshwari went the Auxilium Convent High School, Mumbai. She was interested in music and acting from a young age.

She was only a teenager when she got her acting break. Famous director Esmayeel Shroff cast her in his upcoming film “Zid.” The film starring Mala Sinha, Jay Mehta and Raageshari, got delayed and released in 1994.

She made her debut with David Dhavan’s comedy “Ankhen” in 1993. In the film she worked with Govinda, Chunkey Pandey, Ritu Shivpuri, Shilpa Shirodkar and Kader Khan. The film went on to become one of biggest hit of that year. She then acted in a few more films like Dil Aa Gaya (1994), Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Dil Kitna Nadan Hai (1997) and Tum Jiyo Hazaron Saal (2002). His acting career did not go as intended, and she made her distance from films.

Raageshwari The Pop Star

In 1997, she released her first album, “Duniya,” which made her an overnight star. The song “Maine dekhe hain sabhi rang duniya ke” became an instant hit. She went on to release many albums like “Sach Ka Saath (1998)” “and “Pyaar Ka Rang (1998),” which reflect her musical diversity and ability to connect with audiences.

Raageshwari’s television presence has been notable, with her hosting shows like ‘Ek do teen’ and “Baar baar dekho,” on MTV, “Kuch Kehti Hai Yeh Dhun,” on Sony, and “One on One With Raageshwari,” on TEN Sports.

The turn of the century was a significant time for Raageshwari. She released the album ‘Y2K Saal Do Hazaar‘ in collaboration with her father. She also did a series of concerts across India, under the sponsorship of Coca-Cola.

Illness and Comeback

However, life threw a curveball at her when she was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy. The disease left her with a paralysed left side of the face and a slur in her voice. Demonstrating immense determination, Raageshwari underwent a year of rehabilitation involving physiotherapy, electrical stimulation, and yoga, which eventually led to a remarkable recovery.

In 2006, she released her fourth album, “Sagari Rayn,” which has tracks like “Sagari Rayn,” “Kadmon Ke Nishan,” “Mast Qalandar,” “Jugni,” “Maavan Te Dhiyan,” “Dandiya Medley,” among others. Her last album, “Lifting the Veil,” received widespread acclaim for its soulful tracks.
She also sang the famous song “Osaka Muraiya” under the music direction of A.R. Rahman in the 2001 film “One 2 Ka 4.”

Raageshwari married London-based human rights lawyer Sudhanshu Swaroop KC in 2014 and welcomed their daughter Samaya in 2016. Today, Raageshwari continues to balance her roles as a mother and a professional, spreading love and peace through her work and life.
