The first image that came to mind with the mention of Mazhar Khan is a man singing “Naam Abdul Hai Mira” in “Shaan.” In his brief role, he made a big impact and is still remembered for that role. His story is a lesson in how your decisions can affect the lives of you and your loved ones, for good and bad.

Early Life and Career

Mazhar Khan, born on July 22, 1955, in Delhi, was a prominent figure in the Indian film industry, known for his multifaceted contributions as an actor, producer, and director. He completed his education in Delhi and was active in theater from his college days. In the late 1970s Honey Irani noticed him in a play. Impressed by his looks and acting, she asked him to give her his portfolio. Honey shows his portfolio to Javed Akhtar, who was working on Ramesh Sippy’s “Shaan.” Akhtar showed the photograph to Sippy, who thought that the rugged and good guy was fit for his film.

While Shaan was being made, he signed another film, “Sampark (1979),” which was released before Shaan. The film was directed by Inder Sen and starred Madhu Kapoor, Girish Karnad, Rameshwari, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda with him. In the film he played Brindavan, a taxi driver who finds himself amidst a sinister plan hatched by Kulbhushan Kharbanda.
